Amberjack Solutions, was contracted to design, supply, and install a weather station and a tide gauge on the island of Santa Maria in the Azores.
The station, which provides real-time data acquisition, includes:
- Power supply from the public grid and a photovoltaic system with battery energy storage;
- Measurement of wind speed, direction, and gusts;
- Detection and measurement of rainfall;
- Measurement of air temperature and relative humidity;
- Measurement of visibility;
- Measurement of sea level through a RADAR sensor, hydrostatic pressure, and angular encoder for buoy and counterweight;
- Measurement of sea water temperature and salinity;
- Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS);
- CCTV system with cameras and recorder for station monitoring and security.
This project is the result of a collaborative effort between Navi-Tech, Second Institute of Oceanography, Centro Interdisciplinar de Investigação Marinha e Ambiental and Instituto Hidrográfico. Leveraging its experience in the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of stations, Amberjack Solutions also provided consultancy services for the building design, adapting it to the needs of the equipment to be installed.
