Amberjack Solutions provides tide gauge station for Aras Marine – Turkey.

Amberjack Solutions was contracted to provide a tide gauge station for Aras Marine, a company based in Istanbul, Turkey.

The station was installed in the city of Filyos (41°33’49.2″N 32°01’12.9″E) in the province of Zonguldak.

As a coastal region bordering the Black Sea, it is interesting to observe the differences in tidal amplitude compared to oceanic tides. Being a nearly enclosed body of water, the Black Sea has tidal amplitudes of around 10 centimeters, whereas oceanic amplitudes are typically between 1 and 3 meters. In the Black Sea, wind and atmospheric pressure can have a greater impact on water levels than tidal forces themselves.
